Physics applied to Materials Science I moved into Medical Imaging where I got a Master and a
Ph.D. in Physics Applied to Nuclear Medicine (PET and SPECT).
In 1999 I became Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Lisbon where I am now
Associate Professor (since 2014).
During this period of time I have supervised around 50 Master's Thesis and 11 Ph.D. thesis. I
have been engaged in research projects and contracts in the area of Medical Imaging worthing

also hold Medical Physics and Radiation Protection Expert Accreditations by the Portuguese
Health Authorities (ACSS) and the Ministry of Health.
I have an underlying sense of curiosity which always compels me to embrace new projects and
new ideas while remaining focused.
I share a humanist view of the world and enjoy traveling and reading.
