A Review of Additively Manufactured Ti-6Al-4V Alloys for Medical Applications

Ti-6Al-4V alloys are of great importance for the medical industry due to its biocompatibility and high specific strength. As additive manufacturing technologies develop rapidly, understanding the effect of the microstructure evolution on the mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V parts is crucial. In this work, the assessment of atomized powders is carried out, followed by manufacturing and post-processing heat treatments. Fundamental knowledge is built through the analysis of the resultant microstructure and mechanical properties.
