Resumo

Introduction: The care of people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in socially vulnerable contexts requires an approach that goes beyond technical medical care, incorporating social, emotional and spiritual dimensions. In this context, faith-based institutions have played an important role by providing comprehensive support, promoting dignity, care and social reintegration. Objective: To report the experience in the care of people living with HIV, emphasizing the impact of playful activities and spirituality on the humanization of care and on students’ training. Methods: This is a descriptive experience report developed by medical students over one year in a Catholic Franciscan institution. Activities were carried out through regular biweekly visits, including health education, recreational dynamics and social interaction, with emphasis on pulmonary health due to the high prevalence of smoking among participants. The institution provided housing, food, healthcare and emotional support, characterizing a comprehensive care environment. Results: The visits were marked by activities focused on well-being and health education, especially recreational interactions. Among the most meaningful experiences were karaoke activities, in which participants frequently chose religious songs. Despite execution difficulties, these moments were characterized by strong emotional expression, spirituality and affection, reflecting a sincere and meaningful experience of faith. It was observed that, even living with a chronic condition, individuals expressed feelings of peace, joy and acceptance, resignifying the illness beyond perceptions of guilt or punishment. The experience also contributed to the strengthening of values such as empathy, charity and commitment to integral care among participants. Conclusion: The integration of educational actions, playful activities and spirituality enhanced comprehensive care for people living with HIV in vulnerable contexts. In addition to promoting well-being among those assisted, the experience contributed significantly to the personal and professional development of students, reinforcing humanized care and ethical commitment.
