MESSAGE

Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

It is with great joy and gratitude that we present the Proceedings of the XXVII FIAMC World Congress for Catholic Physicians, held in Brasília from July 30th to August 1st, 2026, at Casa Dom Luciano, under the theme “Catholic Doctors between the Industrial and Digital Revolutions.”

This Congress is especially meaningful for all of us, as it takes place during the Diamond Jubilee Year of the International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (F.I.A.M.C.), marking sixty years of friendship, service, and witness of Catholic physicians throughout the world. Over these decades, our Federation has sought to support doctors in their professional vocation and Christian mission, always at the service of human dignity and life.

The reflections gathered in these Proceedings show the richness and vitality of our international community. In a world transformed by artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and profound social changes, Catholic physicians are called more than ever to unite scientific competence with ethical responsibility, faith, compassion, and hope.

We are particularly grateful to all the authors who generously shared their work, research, and experience with the Congress. A total of 72 abstracts were submitted, and 62 were accepted after careful evaluation. Each contribution represents a valuable effort to reflect on the challenges of medicine today in the light of the Gospel and the teaching of the Church.

We also wish to express our sincere thanks to the reviewers, whose dedication and generous service ensured the scientific quality and academic integrity of these Proceedings.

May this publication be more than a collection of scientific works. May it strengthen the bonds of fraternity among Catholic healthcare professionals and encourage all of us to continue serving Christ through the care of the sick, the defense of life, and the pursuit of truth in medicine.

We hope that these pages will inspire fruitful reflection, dialogue, and renewed commitment for all who read them.

With our fraternal greetings in Christ,

Prof. Dr. Bernard Ars
President of F.I.A.M.C.

Dr. Franco Scariot
President of the Brazilian Catholic Medical Association

Prof. Pedro Pimenta de Mello Spineti
President of the Organizing Committee of the XXVII FIAMC World Congress for Catholic Physicians
