Resumo
The near field communication (NFC) technology has become a worldwide tool for several things, such as wireless payment, business card and smart tags. The lack of contact necessity avoids several problems and allows applications on a huge variety of fields, for instance, on detector matters, it can be used to detect an alteration inside a sealed package, without violation. These smart tags can be created by the combination of commercial or laboratory made wireless tags and a sensing device, such as interdigital electrodes (IDEs) functionalized with polymers or metal oxides. At this work, IDEs were made by the lift-off process, using hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) as water soluble sacrificial material and RF-sputtering technique to deposit chromium (10 nm) and aluminium (100 nm). Then, those IDEs were functionalized with a drop casted organic polymer layer and integrated to commercial purchased wireless tags (max signal attenuation at 13,56 MHz). These smart tags were used to detect pH variation on a certain environment. In order to calibrate the wireless tag, acid solutions with different known pHs (2, 3, 4, 5 and 7) were used and measurements of impedance and reflection coefficient spectroscopy were performed. We were able to successfully correlate those different pHs to impedance and attenuation signals. Then, these smart tags were used as an embedded system with a smartphone with NFC tool to be able to detect a threshold of pH variation in an environment of interest without the necessity of laboratory equipment (e.g. reflection coefficient analyser), meaning that this device/technique can be used as a portable and low-cost pH monitor with several applications, such as fungi detection. Patent pending. (Authors acknowledge the financial support from CAPES, CNPq and FAPESP). [1] Rafaela S. Andre; Quynh P. Ngo; Lucas Fugikawa-Santos; Daniel S. Correa; Timothy M. Swager; (2021).
