Summary
The aeroelasticity is the field of science that studies the relationship between the aerodynamic, elastic and inertia forces. Such knowledge is of great importance in the aviation field since the lift structures are flexible, must withstand the aerodynamic loads and be rigid enough to ensure that it is free from all aeroelastic problems like divergence, control efficiency, flutter and buffeting within the operating speed range according to the federal aviation regulamentations. In this context, the present work carry an aeroelastic analysis in a wing simplified and modeled as a thin flat plate. At first, it was carried out a modal analysis of the structure in order to know the natural vibration modes and natural frequencies. To this end, the ANSYS Structural was used with finite element method and a mesh study to verify the convergence of the results was taken. It is also studied the influence of the slender body position on the tip of the flat plate, which causes the decrease of the second natural frequency on modal analysis. The fluid-structure coupled two-way analysis was performed using the coupling between ANSYS Structural and CFX. The ANSYS Structural analyzed the structural dynamics through the finite element method and ANSYS CFX solved the flow field by the finite volume method. A mesh study and step size were taken in order to certify the simulations. It was possible to obtain the periodic damped oscillatory behavior of the structure. Once the aerodynamic force is proportional to the square velocity the displacement amplitudes intend to be and it can be seen in the results. Could be also seen that no one aeroelastic problem was present in the tested velocity range.
