Summary
Noise pollution has intensified with rapid population growth and urbanization, becoming a significant challenge for urban planning. Noise maps are essential tools for visualizing and diagnosing sound pressure levels in different areas, enabling the proposal of control and mitigation strategies for urban noise. This study assessed noise pollution in Cidade dos Lagos, Guarapuava/PR, the first LEED-certified neighborhood in Latin America. The methodology involved field data collection, the development of a noise map using SoundPLAN® software, and analysis of the obtained results. In addition to identifying current noise impacts, the research highlights the importance of continuous environmental acoustic monitoring throughout urban development. Tracking noise levels allows for the identification of trends, the anticipation of issues, and the formulation of public policies aimed at improving quality of life. Moreover, acoustic mapping proves to be a valuable environmental indicator, contributing to more efficient and sustainable urban planning. The results reinforce the need for integrated strategies to balance urban growth and environmental quality, promoting more sustainable and livable cities.
