Summary
Recent regulations regarding pedestrian safety related to AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System) sound are being strengthened due to the increasing adoption of eco-friendly vehicles such as electric and hybrid vehicles. Additionally, the intrusion of AVAS sound into the vehicle cabin must be minimized, as this is a crucial factor in terms of vehicle marketability. Therefore, optimizing the position of AVAS speakers by considering both regulations and interior noise is crucial in the preliminary stages of vehicle design. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal position of AVAS speakers by considering both regulatory requirements and the minimization of interior noise. Firstly, a vehicle front/rear integrated simulation model is proposed, and the validity of this model is verified through comparison with test. Secondly, priority positions are selected from a regulatory perspective using the acoustic transfer function. Additionally, priority positions are selected from the perspective of interior noise. Thirdly, common priority positions from both regulatory and interior noise criteria are selected, and the final position is determined by applying speaker gain adjustments. This study demonstrated a difference of more than 5 dB(OA) in interior noise levels depending on the AVAS speaker positions, emphasizing the importance of selecting the optimal position through this study.
