Summary
An integrated simulation framework is presented for the multi-objective optimization of a powertrain mounting system in a full-size FWD vehicle, focusing on NVH performance. The framework leverages the capabilities of modeFrontier to integrate multiple simulation tools, including specific CAE tools for transient analysis end detailed NVH evaluation. To streamline the optimization process and reduce computational cost, the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) method is employed to create models representing the complex relationships between design parameters and NVH performance metrics. This integrated approach allows for a comprehensive assessment of the mounting system's performance under various operating conditions such as start-up, idle, lugging, and ride, among other metrics. The optimization process considers multiple objectives related to vibration and noise reduction, while also incorporating constraints such as the energy metric of the mount progression curves. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of the integrated simulation framework, in conjunction with RSM-based surrogate models, in efficiently identifying optimal mount parameters that minimize vibration transmission and improve overall vehicle NVH performance. The proposed methodology offers a valuable tool for automotive engineers seeking to design and optimize powertrain mounting systems for enhanced vehicle comfort and reduced noise levels.
