Resumen
Introduction: Thermal instruments can be used in surgical procedures, reducing some trans and post-surgeries complications, such as sutures at the site of surgical cut and excessive bleeding. Lasers with diferente wavelenghts are used in minor oral surgery, with the aim providing a minimally invasive approach, with precision with the incision, less intraoperative bleeding and disinfection of the surgical wound. The high power diode laser (808-980nm) has proven to be eficiente and reliable, both in continuous and pulse mode in soft tissues surgeries, and for infants diagnosed with ankyloglossia with indication of treatment through surgery, surgery minimally invasive treatment using a thermal instruments may be an option. Ankyloglossia is na anomaly lingual frenulum that prevents free movement of the anterior region of the tongue and can negatively impact breastfeedin, and in some cases tht the lack of lingual movement due to the altered frenulum, surgical release of the lingual frenulum may be necessary. Objective: This study aims to evaluate and compare the variation in heat absorption by tissues in the belly of the pig tongue ex vivo, as it is a region similar to that which undergoes surgical incision in cases of ankyloglossia in humans, by measuring temperature during the surgical cut on the fascia in this region. Metodology: Thermal instruments can be an option in the surgical treatment of this anomaly in infants as it is a safe procedure with little discomfort for the patient, but there are questions regarding the quality of post-operative healing. Healing in this region may be altered and one of the reasons for this change may be the high temperature on the local tissue during the surgical incision. This temperature measurement will be done using a thermographic camera and the use of thermal instruments such as electrocautery, electric scalpel, high-power diode and erbium laser.
