Resumo
The maize requires at the high amount nitrogen fertilizer in its production and this factor, in addition to increase the cost in production, also increase the contamination of the environment, due to the leaching and volatilization processes. Currently, with global warming it is necessary to reduce pollution, mainly in agriculture, and still produce more, in order to guarantee of food security and to have less impact on the environment. Given the above, the objective was to select efficient genotypes for the use of nitrogen. Forty-nine genotypes were analyzed in six environments (in the state of São Paulo), with a simple Lattice design, with two replications and two experiments where one was performed with topdressing and the other without it. The 49 genotypes are composed of two groups of crosses-lineages in partial diallel scheme and a check, group I with eight lines and group II with six lines. The traits analyzed were grain yield with and without nitrogen (PGCN e PGSN) and through these we calculated the nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), the partial diallel analysis was performed. There was significance for general and specific combining ability (GCA and SCA, respectively) in all environments and for the PGSN, PGCN and NUE traits. It was possible to select parents through GCA for PGSN and PGCN, with lines 7 and 2 from G1 and lines 5 and 6 from G2 superior to the others. For the SCA selected hybrids L3xL2, L4xL6, L1xL5, L1xL3, L7xL5, L2xL5, L2xL3, L3xL5 and L7xL1. For GCA in NUE we can select lines 4, 1, 7 for G1 and lines 1, 6 and 5 for G2. And in SCA in NUE the best crosses were L2xL6, L1xL5, L4xL1, L1xL2 and L2xL5. Therefore, it is possible to observe that there are genotypes that present greater efficiency in the use of nitrogen and thus continue in the breeding process.
