In recent years, it is possible to observe the consolidation of a culture of evaluation in Brazil. However, it is still necessary to advance both theoretically and methodologically in this area. A lot of research has been produced in the area of evaluation and there is a great diversity of innovations on the agenda today. Nevertheless, regardless of the theoretical and methodological strands used, what is observed is a constant search to produce evaluations that evidence the real educational needs of the country, always seeking to promote equity in the Brazilian educational system. In this context, the XIII ABAVE Meeting represents an important milestone for the debate on the challenges and trends in the area of educational evaluation, whose central theme will be: "Evaluation, Innovation and Equity".
