Held by the Graduate Program in Linguistics of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), in parceria with the Graduate Program in Languages of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (PPGL/UFRGS) and with the Graduate Program in Languages of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (PPGL/UNISC), the XI Conference on Linguistics and Cognition (CLC) is part of the activities of the Working Group Linguistics and Cognition of ANPOLL.
The purpose of the XI CLC is: (i) to promote scientific dialogue and exchange of research that explores the interfaces between language and cognition, bringing together researchers, professors and students from different Brazilian institutions; (ii) foster critical reflection on the foundations, methods and applications of cognitivist approaches in Linguistics, contributing to the advance of investigations on the mental and social processes involved in the acquisition, comprehension and use of language; (iii) stimulate and deepen the theoretical debate in the area in focus through the presentation and discussion of research carried out and in progress, consolidating itself as a space for cooperation and strengthening of the scientific community that investigates language in its dimension cognitive, discursive and sociocultural and (iv) to promote the exchange between national researchers in the area and encourage the formation of integrated research groups, strengthening academic collaboration between different programs and regions of the country.
A CLC – Linguistic and Cognition Conference fwas promoted and hosted, in its previous editions, by the Linguistics and Cognition WG of ANPOLL at the following institutions: University of Campinas (2003 - 1st edition); Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2004 - 2nd edition); University of Campinas (2006 - 3rd edição); Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG (2007 - 4th edition); Universidade de Santa Catarina (2010 - 5th edition); University of Santa Cruz do Sul - UNISC (2013 - 6th edition); Federal University of Paraíba - UFPB (2015 - 7th edition); University of Santa Cruz do Sul - UNISC (2017 - 8th edition); Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais – PUC/MINAS (2019 - 9th edition) and Federal University of Maranhão (2023 - 10th edition).
