Congresso Brasileiro de Bioinformática | Brazilian Bioinformatics Congress
The Brazilian Association of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (AB3C) hosts the X-Meeting, Brazil's premier bioinformatics-focused scientific conference. The 2026 edition will be held in Garibaldi ('Valley of the Vineyards'), Rio Grande do Sul state, from June 9th to 12th.
This annual congress provides an important opportunity for researchers, scientists, students, and professionals in bioinformatics and related fields to meet, share cutting-edge research, and discuss technological advancements in computational biology. The event has traditionally featured a comprehensive program that includes keynote lectures by national and international experts, scientific paper presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and specialized mini-courses (on-line) pre-event.
The 2026 edition in Garibaldi aims to maintain the conference's tradition of encouraging scientific exchange and innovative research in bioinformatics. By bringing together leading minds in the field, X-Meeting is instrumental in advancing computational approaches to biological research in Brazil and elsewhere.
Researchers and professionals can expect a vibrant academic environment that promotes knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration across multiple bioinformatics domains, including genomics and proteomics, data analysis, and computational modeling.
The ‘Participant Handbook’ features suggestions on transport, food, attractions and sightseeing itineraries, as well as poster printing, shopping and useful tips for XM26 participants!
For the second time at X-Meeting, accepted papers will be published by Springer in Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI), a subseries of Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).
The X-Meeting 2026 Program Committee invites submissions of original research presenting novel theoretical results, techniques, and applications in all areas of Bioinformatics, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Genomics, Evolution and Sequence Analysis - Structural Biology, Proteomics and Drug Discovery - Systems Biology and Integrative Omics - AI, LLMs and Advanced Computing in Bioinformatics - Digital Health and Clinical Informatics - Specialized Applications in Bioinformatics
The Brazilian Association of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (AB3C) promotes the Young Bioinformatician Award 2026, which recognizes merit for work developed in areas related to Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. It is an initiative that aims not only to recognize but also to highlight academic work that demonstrates a high level of excellence and significant contribution to the field. AB3C firmly believes in the potential of academic research to drive the advancement of science and technology. Therefore, this award is an expression of our commitment to encouraging and supporting researchers who are at the forefront of this dynamic and constantly evolving field.
The finalists for the 2026 Young Bioinformatician Award
AB3C have been selected by the scientific committee and invited to present their work at XM26.
The Young Bioinformaticians session will take place on 12 June 2026, from 10.00 am to 11.30 am, during X-Meeting 2026. The session will be chaired by the chairs, in the following format: - 15-minute presentation + 5 minutes for questions from the audience. - Slides preferably in English - Presentations may be delivered in Portuguese. - The order of presentation will follow the alphabetical order of names, starting with dissertations and ending with theses:
Master’s Dissertations: 10:10 am - > EpiBuilder 2.0: Plataforma Web Dockerizada para Predição e Análise In Silico de Epítopos Lineares de Células B Author: Bruna Caroline Russi
10: 30 am -> Program's Coding: The Code of Life - Um projeto piloto para aplicação de bioinformática no Ensino Médio Author: Helena Lott Costa Rocha
Doctoral Theses:
10:50 am -> Analysis and Classification of Human Microbiomes: Detection of Bioindicators and Optimisation through Machine Learning Author: Jonas Coelho Kasmanas
11:10 am -> Parasitismo Vegetal e Transporte de Metais: Narrativas Complementares da Evolução e Inovação Molecular em Plantas Author: Wenderson Felipe Costa Rodrigues
The results will be announced during the closing session of X-Meeting 2026.
