We are delighted to announce the 4th International Viva Língua Viva Seminar (VLV 4), which will focus on “Language Reclamation and Strengthening: Concepts, Approaches, and Experiences.”
VLV 4 aims to highlight and promote the exchange of experiences from ongoing initiatives in Brazil and around the world dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous and minoritized languages. The event will bring together members of Indigenous communities, Indigenous educators, faculty, students, and researchers from universities, museums, and other academic and research institutions, creating a space for dialogue, collaboration, and the promotion of language preservation and reclamation initiatives.
This edition marks a historic milestone for the seminar, as it will be held in Northeastern Brazil for the first time, fostering exchange among different peoples and communities of the region while strengthening the academic and political visibility of Indigenous languages.
Our program will include keynote lectures, roundtables, oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and short courses, as well as cultural activities, bringing together researchers, educators, and community members in an environment that values dialogue and linguistic diversity.
