WELCOME LETTER

Dear participants,

It is with great enthusiasm that the CEUMA University and the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SBBq) welcome them in São Luís, Maranhão, for the VII International Symposium in Biochemistry of Macromolecules and Biotechnology (ISBMB) e a XVI SBBq Northeast Regional Meeting (SBBqNE), which will take place from September 15-18, 2025.

The Northeast Region is honored to host, biennially, this important event with the support of SBBq and the organization of their regional representatives. The Northeast Regional Meetings were designed with the fundamental objective of promoting integration between researchers from different regions of Brazil and, especially, to facilitate the participation of students from the Northeast Region, overcoming the difficulties of access to meetings traditionally held in the South-Southeast axis. Along Over the years, these itinerant editions have played a crucial role in the dissemination of biochemical knowledge and related areas in different capitals Northeastern.

Recognizing Expressive Performance of researchers in our region in the areas of biochemistry of macromolecules and biotechnology, this edition joins, once again, the International Symposium in Biochemistry of Macromolecules and Biotechnology, enhancing the exchange of knowledge and experience.

The choice of São Luís as the headquarters of this strategic scientific meeting is not fortuitous. Maranhão, the only state to integrate the Legal Amazon Region, establishes an important bridge with the North and Midwest regions. In addition, the consolidated presence of two network Graduate Programs in Biotechnology (BIONORTE Network and RENORBIO) and other graduate initiatives in related areas in the state reinforce the environment conducive to discussion and scientific advancement.

The overall theme of this edition, "Advances in Biochemistry and Biotechnology for Social Inclusion and Development Sustainable: Promoting Health, Education, Innovation and Equality", reflects the urgency and the relevance of our areas for building a more sustainable future. fair and sustainable. The event will be attended by renowned national and international speakers, who will share the latest scientific advances in Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, in addition to explore the new perspectives for graduate studies in these fields of knowledge.

Although the excellence of the lectures conferences are undeniable, we recognize that the true richness of events of SBBq lies in the vibrant participation of young people and new researchers. The scientific quality of the papers presented in panel format and oral presentations is a testament to the talent and potential of our community. In this sense, we strongly encourage everyone to encourage its undergraduate and graduate students to enroll their further enriching the scientific debate.

Event registrations, allowing The submission of papers (abstracts or full papers) will be open until July 11, 2025. Authors must submit their papers must be in English. Thanks in advance to advisors for devoting their attention to the revision of the texts before the submission, ensuring the quality of the contributions. During the event, the Papers may be presented in poster format or oral presentation.

This edition brings news Exciting! We will offer workshops specially designed for students of public schools, with the aim of arousing interest in the fascinating areas of science. In addition, we will promote the journey "Youth Scientists for a Sustainable Future", a dedicated space for students present scientific projects developed in their schools, fostering the development of future scientists.

Another unmissable highlight is the launch of the scientific contest 'Young Talents in Biochemistry and Biotechnology'. This award is a unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students (master's and doctorate) who develop their research in Latin American countries, as well as for masters and doctors who have completed their courses within one year before the application deadline. A committee composed of outstanding members of our scientific community, appointed by the SBBq board of directors, will analyze all applications and select up to 12 candidates, who submit complete papers, to participate in the contest and to present their papers orally during the VII ISBMB & XVI SBBqNE.

The edition also has the Best Papers Award 'VII ISBMB & XVI SBBqNE', which aims to recognize the excellence of scientific papers presented in poster format during the event, in each thematic area. The main objective is to encourage the relevant contribution of students and researchers to the advancement of scientific research in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in Brazil.

We look forward to welcoming you. warmly welcome you to São Luís for this meeting that will certainly be a milestone for Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology in the Northeast and throughout the Latin America.

Welcome!

Sincerely,
