The International Week of Nuclear and Energy Engineering and Radiation Sciences, SENCIR, is a biennial congress and focuses on disseminating scientific and academic activities in areas involving nuclear engineering, energy engineering and radiation sciences, in addition to disseminate technological and scientific advances and information about the job market in these fields. The last two SENCIR editions featured national and international speakers. Therefore, the eighth edition is being prepared to officially become a national and international event, given the scale and success achieved. The VIII SENCIR is being organized by the Department of Nuclear Engineering of the School of Engineering of the Federal University of Minas Gerais with the collaboration and support of institutions in the country and other countries. Traditionally, complete papers are published in the conference proceedings and are presented in poster sessions and oral sessions. Activities include lectures by experts, mini-courses, round tables, stands with demonstrations of studies and equipment, presentations of research work, workshops and technical visits. The eighth edition of the event is scheduled to take place in the week of November 9th to 13th , 2026, at Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The SENCIR is an opportunity to expand collaborations and opportunities for joint projects and studies between experts from Brazil and the rest of the world in the nuclear sector.

PAPER SUBMISSION

All approved articles will be published in the Proceedings of the event with an individual DOI number and the best evaluated will be nominated for publication in Special Editions of indexed journals: Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) and Brazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences (BJRS) - see details below.

SPECIAL EDITIONS: PARTNER JOURNALS

VIII SENCIR partnered with the journals Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE), an international journal of the American Nuclear Society, and Brazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences (BJRS), an open access journal supported by the Brazilian Society of Radiological Protection - SBPR, an associated society of IRPA. Works presented at the Conference by one of the authors (poster or oral session) and indicated by evaluators after the presentation will be invited for publication in a special edition. Papers must be revised (expanded to more pages with more details) for submission to the journal. Each manuscript will be reviewed in accordance with the journal's policy.

For NSE:
- There is no page limit for submission of NSE journals.
- There are no fees for submitting or publishing on NSE (Page does not charge). Authors can choose open access publishing (free reading without subscription); however, this carries a fee.

TECHNICAL VISITS

Nuclear Technology Development Center - CDTN/CNEN & Radioisotope Laboratory and NucleFar Laboratory - UFMG

The Nuclear Technology Development Center - CDTN/CNEN is participating in the organization of VIII SENCIR and will promote technical visits for congress participants to its facilities during the event, such as the TRIGA IPR-R1 Nuclear Research Reactor, the Gamma Irradiation Laboratory (LIG), among others.
Details will be released soon!

The Technical Visit to the Department of Clinical and Toxicological Analysis at UFMG Faculty of Pharmacy includes:
- Visit to the Radioisotope Laboratory
- Visit to the NucleFar Laboratory
- Short course: "Radiopharmaceuticals: Production Process, Marking and Quality Control" with Dr. Simone Odília Fernandes.
