The 7th Winter School in Chemical Ecology is organized by the Laboratório de Semioquímicos at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and represents the only continuing education initiative in Chemical Ecology in Brazil and Latin America.
The event was created in 2011, inspired by the Summer School in Organic Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), coordinated by Prof. José Tércio Barbosa Ferreira, one of the leading references in the field in Brazil and advisor to the laboratory coordinator, Prof. Paulo H. G. Zarbin. Since its first edition, the Winter School in Chemical Ecology has hosted nationally and internationally recognized researchers in the field, such as Consuelo de Moraes, Mark Mescher, Wittko Francke, Christer Löfstedt, Jeremy McNeil, Jeffrey Aldrich, Stefan Schulz, Stephen Lapointe, Marcelo Lorenzo, Andrés González, José Trigo, Antônio Euzébio, Taícia Fill, Massuo Kato, Eraldo de Lima, and Fábio Santos do Nascimento, among others.
The mission of our School is to offer, over the course of one week, theoretical and practical training for undergraduate and graduate students who are beginning their research in Chemical Ecology, or who already work in the field and seek to deepen their knowledge. The event also promotes an interdisciplinary exchange through flash presentation sessions, in which participants can present their work and receive feedback from experienced researchers.
Celebrating 15 years in 2026, EINEQ reaffirms its commitment to the training of researchers and the strengthening of Chemical Ecology in Brazil and Latin America, bringing together students and researchers from different institutions and countries.
