Copyright in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Innovation, Creativity, and Regulation

The Graduate Program in Intellectual Property and Innovation (PPGPI), of the Postgraduate and Research Division (DIPGP) of the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI) (Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property) is pleased to invite you to speak at the event “IP in Focus – Copyright in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Innovation, Creativity, and Regulation”, which will be held on July 2, 2026, at 9–11 (AM EDT) with live streaming on INPI’s official YouTube channel.

Artificial intelligence has been profoundly transforming the processes of creating, producing, circulating, and exploiting intellectual content. In this context, important issues arise for copyright law, such as the authorship of works created using AI, the protection of content generated by generative AI, the use of protected works to train AI models, and the regulatory challenges arising from these new technologies.

To discuss these topics, the event will bring together Prof. Zvi Rosen, J.D., Professor at UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law and Director of the Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property, and Prof. Allan Rocha de Souza, J.D., President of the Brazilian Institute of Copyright Law (IBDAutoral) and Professor and Researcher at the Graduate Program in Public Policy and Development (PPED) at UFRJ. Moderation will be conducted by Prof. Patricia Carvalho da Rocha Porto, DS.c. Academic Coordinator at the Dannemann Siemsen Institute and Professor at PPGPI/INPI.
