The Pernambuco School on Neutron Scattering is a scientific training event organized in partnership with the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source (UK), bringing together students, researchers, and experts from Brazil and abroad. The school will provide an introduction to the fundamental principles of neutron scattering and diffraction, as well as their applications in materials science, chemistry, physics, and related fields.
The programme will include lectures and discussions led by ISIS beamline scientists and researchers from Brazilian institutions, covering experimental techniques, instrument capabilities, experimental planning, data analysis, and the interpretation of neutron scattering and diffraction results. The event will also provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the use of large-scale neutron facilities and to establish connections with researchers working in this field.
By promoting access to knowledge and training in neutron-based techniques, the school aims to strengthen the development of neutron science in Brazil, encourage new research collaborations, and support the training of the next generation of researchers. Its location in Pernambuco is particularly important for expanding opportunities in the Northeast of Brazil and increasing the participation of students and researchers from the region in national and international neutron research programmes.
