On the occasion of the 13th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, this event will shed light on ways to ensure better governance, due diligence practices and guiding principles on business and human rights.
The event will be led by academics, stakeholders and indigenous peoples' leaders, with the aim of discussing the implementation and impacts of large-scale transnational mining projects in the Amazon region, Brazil, and their negative effects on indigenous peoples rights.
The speakers will present their different views on the negative social and environmental impacts arising from projects that cause significant damage and will highlight the need to comply with aspects related to: due diligence in environmental licensing, the Prevention and precaution obligations, parameters of prior consultation with indigenous peoples, State planning, management and governance in the implementation of infrastructure projects and high impact projects, judicial and non-judicial procedures and their effects.

Por ocasião do 13º Fórum das Nações Unidas sobre Empresas e Direitos Humanos, esse evento lançará luz sobre formas de garantir melhor governança, práticas de devida diligência e princípios orientadores sobre empresas e direitos humanos
O evento será conduzido por acadêmicos, partes envolvidas e líderes de povos indígenas, com o objetivo de discutir a implementação e os impactos de projetos de mineração transnacionais de grande escala na região amazônica - Brasil, e seus efeitos negativos sobre os direitos dos povos indígenas.
Os palestrantes apresentarão suas diferentes visões sobre os impactos socioambientais negativos decorrentes de projetos que causam danos significativos e destacarão a necessidade de cumprimento de aspectos relacionados a: devida diligência no licenciamento ambiental, obrigações de prevenção e precaução, parâmetros de consulta prévia aos povos indígenas, planejamento, gestão e governança do Estado na implementação de projetos de infraestrutura e projetos de alto impacto, procedimentos judiciais e extrajudiciais e seus efeitos.
