The MEDYFINOL conference series was conceived in 1986 as a means of collecting researchers in various branches of the physics of non-equilibrium and dynamical systems, mainly in Argentina and neighboring countries, aiming at broadening the scope to attract colleagues from all over the world. Thirty-eight years have elapsed and we can ascertain that MEDYFINOL is doing the right way in the international community as one of the most important regular meetings in the field.
This XXII MEDYFINOL follows a series of meetings that took place in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay (2022), Santiago de Chile (2018), Valdivia, Chile (2016); Maceió, Brazil (2014); Santiago, Chile (2012); Punta de Este, Uruguay (2008); Mar del Plata, Argentina (2006); La Serena, Chile (2004); Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay (2002); Huerta Grande, Córdoba (1999); Canela, Brazil (1997); Tucumán, Argentina (1996); San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina (1995); Montevideo, Uruguay (1994); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1993); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1991); Santiago de Chile, Chile (1990); Puerto Iguazú, Argentina (1989); Mar del Plata, Argentina (1988); Lujan, Argentina (1987); and Lujan, Argentina (1986).
Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics are research areas that have developed a multidisciplinary character with many applications in biology, physiology, ecology, economics, sociology, and many others. The scientific problems discussed in the meeting included image characterization, biological applications of statistical physics, econophysics and sociologically related issues, chaos, and nonlinear dynamics, pattern formation and spatio-temporal complexity, fluids and granular media, nonextensive thermostatistics, irreversible thermodynamics, stochastic processes, phase transitions, lasers and nonlinear optics, synchronization, wavelets and nonlinear time series analysis, complex networks, neuronal and brain dynamics.
The purpose of the MEDYFINOL series of meetings is to keep the Latin American scientific community updated with new developments and trends in the statistics and nonlinear physics fields, to incentivize collaborative international science programs, and to identify and discuss the most relevant issues in the area. The success of the MEDYFINOL meeting series is due to the presence of eminent speakers, the high-quality contributed papers, and significant student participation.
The organizing committee is pleased to announce that this year, there will be a dedicated Jason Gallas Award section in honor of the esteemed Brazilian scientist, Jason Gallas. This award aims to recognize the outstanding contributions made by Latin American scientists to the fields of Statistical Mechanics and nonlinear sciences.

Professor Jason Alfredo Carlson Gallas
