FOURTH ADVANCED SCHOOL ON NANOMEDICINE
May 17, 2023
It is our great pleasure to announce the Fourth Advanced School on Nanomedicine that happens on May 17th of 2023. This year the chairs of the school are Dr. Andris Bakuzis from the Institute of Physics and CNanoMed at the Federal University of Goiás, and Dr. Robert Ivkov from the Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Nanomedicine is an interdisciplinary field that uses nanotechnology for prevention, monitoring, diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Several types of nanostructures have been used for such applications spanning from organic to inorganic materials, where at least one of its dimensions is found at the nanometer scale. Covid-19 m-RNA vaccines are examples of nanomedicines.
The school is a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as scientists of distinct backgrounds, to discuss with leading experts in the field of Nanomedicine. This year we have 5 speakers, a neurosurgeon, a medical physicist, biomedical, electrical and computer engineers. Topics will discuss applications on Nanomedicine for treating cancer, infection diseases, and important imaging modalities. The participants will have the chance to interact with scientists that aim to achieve clinical translation.
The advanced school is a satellite event of the Workshop on Nanomedicine of the Brazilian Breast Cancer Symposium (https://2023.bbcs.org.br/).
