We are happy to announce the first Call for Papers for the sixth edition of the International Conference on Translation, Interpreting and Cognition (ICTIC-6). After the success of ICTIC-1 in Mendoza, Argentina, in 2017; ICTIC-2 in Germersheim, Germany, in 2019; ICTIC-3 in Forli, Italy, in 2021; ICTIC-4 in Santiago de Chile in 2023; and ICTIC-5 in Kristiansand, Norway in 2025, the sixth edition of ICTIC, to be held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, aims to bring together cutting-edge research at the intersection of translation, interpreting and cognition, with a special focus on innovation paths in CTIS in the age of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI).
New technologies, in the broadest sense of the word, are demanded by society to enable a diversity of multilingual meanings to be created, exchanged, and disseminated, based on equality, complementarity, and reciprocity. In this emerging scenario, studies that promote and seek innovation, in the widest sense of the word, play a fundamental role in providing insights and solutions to meet new challenges. Thus, the choice of Innovation Paths in Cognitive Translation and Interpreting Studies as the theme of the ICTIC-6 Conference invites contributions that draw on state-of-the-art research and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Hoping to bridge languages and connect minds, ICTIC-6 welcomes scholars and students working on theoretical, methodological and technological advancements across the full range of CTIS, including theoretical, empirical and applied research. Key areas of theoretical exploration should include innovation in CTIS related to the cognitive modelling of translation and interpreting across their various modalities. These are particularly pertinent in the GenAI era, in which both human-AI and human-human interaction are worth investigating.
By showcasing a wide range of topics, we aim to provide a platform for fruitful discussions and foster interdisciplinary dialogues. Through a blend of theoretical, methodological, technological and applied perspectives, ICTIC-6 seeks to enhance and expand the scope of CTIS
