I FTMat was born with the purpose of strengthening the popularization of Mathematics, encourage <strong data-start="2757" data-end="2781">scientific initiation, value the student protagonism and promote the approximation between schools, universities and society.

More than an exhibition of works, the Fair aims to be a space for dialogue, experimentation, research, creativity and collective construction of mathematical knowledge, recognizing Mathematics as an instrument of social transformation, educational equity and human development.

The program will comprise Scientific Exhibition, lectures, round tables, workshops, mini-courses and interactive activities, covering different levels and modalities of education.

Matemática
Works related to concepts, properties, operations, relations, structures, and other mathematical knowledge.

Applied Mathematics
Works that show applications of Mathematics in the resolution or understanding of everyday situations and their articulation with other areas of knowledge.

Education Mathematics
Works related to the teaching and learning of Mathematics, including pedagogical practices, teaching materials, games, technologies, methodologies and educational experiences.

5. HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCIENTIFIC EXHIBITION

Turn a math experience into a job for I FTMat!

Entries may be submitted individually or in pairs and must have the guidance of a teacher.

Submission will be made exclusively by the instructor , through the official website of I FTMat.

Each student can participate as an exhibitor of only one work. Each advisor can have up to three accepted papers for presentation at the Fair.

During the Scientific Exhibition, students will be the protagonists of the presentation. It will be up to the supervising professor to monitor and support the team, without replacing the students during the presentation and evaluation.

6. PREPARE YOUR WORK

How to prepare the abstract of your work?

To participate in the I FTMat, each team must prepare a Work Summary, clearly presenting the experience that will be shared at the Fair.

The abstract should contain:

Introduction: presentation, in general terms, of the work developed.

Development: description of the mathematical content worked, objective of the activity, materials used, process of making the materials, methodology used and development of the experience.

Results: presentation of the main contributions of the activity to the learning of the mathematical content worked.

Acknowledgments: indication, if any, of the people and institutions that collaborated or supported the development of the work.

The submitted works will be evaluated by an evaluation group: supervising teachers of works exhibited at FTMat; teachers who teach mathematics, education professionals and academics.

The evaluation will consider:

Oral communication - The coherence and objectivity in the presentation of the work, in which it is evidenced: clarity in the explanation of the objectives, description of the procedures used, presentation of the results obtained and the conclusions or final considerations; dynamics of the presentation to the public; the adequacy/coherence of the language used in relation to the written text (experience and/or research report); dynamics in the organization of the booth and the relevance of the teaching materials used in the presentation.

Written communication - The methodological consistency in the systematization and organization of the experience and/or research report presented, in order to evidence: the clear explanation of the objective(s), the procedures used, the results obtained and the conclusions or final considerations; adequate use of formal language and respect for the standard norm of the Portuguese language, in addition to the coherence and cohesion in the articulation of the various parts of the text; the use of scientific knowledge for the development and/or reflective evaluation of the experience or research carried out, in addition to the coherence between the ideas expressed through oral communication and those present in the experience and/or research report.

Mathematical Content – The highlight of the mathematical content used, developed or discussed in the work, considering the category and corresponding school year (at least); the relevance of the content in relation to the objective(s) of the work; the appropriate use of mathematical language in its various registers of representation (natural, symbolic, figural and/or algebraic) with regard to conceptual and procedural aspects; the observation of creativity and/or originality in the approach to the mathematical content used, developed or discussed in the work.

Scientific-Social Relevance – the contribution of the development of the work to the formation of concepts, attitudes and procedures, both in the study area and for those involved in the process; the importance and/or impact of the work in meeting the needs and/or demands of those involved in the school or external community, as well as the production/dissemination of knowledge that contributes to social transformation, whether in the classroom, at school or in the community in general); originality and/or creativity and/or innovation and/or the possibility of contributing to knowledge, to the school and/or to society.

The evaluation will have a formative and collaborative character, aimed at   valuing  the pedagogical proposals and encouraging their improvement.

All works will be awarded as Outstanding with emphasis on some aspect - The emphasis could be related  to oral communication; written communication; mathematical content; scientific-social relevance;
