The fungiX 2026 – International Symposium on Fungal Biology, Biodiversity, and Biotechnology is a hybrid event hosted by the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FCF) at São Paulo State University (UNESP, Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil), with both in-person sessions and online broadcasting. The symposium aims to bring together leading national and international researchers to discuss cutting-edge topics in fungal biology, biodiversity, and biotechnology.

With distinguished invited speakers and opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to present their research, fungiX 2026 will provide a dynamic environment for scientific exchange, advanced training, and the development of national and international collaborative research networks.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstract submission is limited to one abstract per registered participant with an On-site Registration.

The deadline for abstract submission is September 14, 2026.

Abstracts must be submitted as a PDF (.pdf) file and formatted according to the instructions provided in the abstract template available on the event website.

All submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. Notification of acceptance will be released starting September 21, 2026.

No refunds will be issued for registration fees if an abstract is not accepted by the Scientific Committee.

At least one of the presenting authors must be registered for the event.

A template for preparing the abstract is available here for download.


ABSTRACT EVALUATION CRITERIA

All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the Scientific Committee. The evaluation will consider the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the event: the abstract should address topics that are within the scientific scope of the conference.
  • Scientific quality: the work should present scientific rationale, appropriate methodology, and valid conclusions.
  • Originality and innovation: preference will be given to studies that demonstrate novelty or provide significant advances in the field.
  • Clarity of presentation: the abstract should be well organized, clearly written, and easy to understand.
  • Compliance with submission guidelines: abstracts must follow the formatting instructions provided in the official template.


PRESENTATION FORMATS

The Scientific Committee will assign accepted abstracts to one of the following presentation formats:

Poster Presentations

  • Participants selected for poster presentations must prepare a poster measuring 90 cm × 120 cm (portrait orientation).
  • The conference will provide the poster boards/supports. Authors are responsible for bringing the necessary materials to fix their posters.
  • The poster presentation session will be in English.

 Flash Talks

  • The Scientific Committee will select a limited number of abstracts for Flash Talk presentations.
  • Selected presenters must prepare an oral presentation in English with the following duration:
    • 5 minutes for undergraduate students.
    • 10 minutes for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.


AWARDS

Outstanding poster presentations and flash talks will be recognized during the event's Awards Ceremony.
