The ENSUS - XIV Meeting on Sustainability in Design is an annual event, with national and international editions, which annually brings together teachers, technicians, students and the community that seek sustainability integrated into projects and the development of new products, in the areas of Architecture, Engineering and Design.
The 2026 edition will be held in Juiz de Fora/MG and is being organized by the Graduate Program in Built Environment - PROAC of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora.
The event will take place on June 17, 18 and 19, 2026 in the auditoriums of the Itamar Franco da Engenharia/UFJF building.
In all editions, ENSUS presents a diversified program that involves lectures, round tables, presentation of articles, mini-courses, workshops and exhibitions. Since 2018, forums have also been held, parallel events that aim to deepen a certain theme, such as the Biomimicry Forum, and the National Forum of Materiotecas.

>History
ENSUS "started" in the canteen of Univali (University of Vale do Itajaí), Balneário Camboriú campus, in 2006, when some Design and Architecture professors were talking before the start of another round of classes.
At the time, we were all young researchers, who in addition to teaching, also did master's and doctoral degrees. The group was composed of engineers, architects and designers, and what we had in common was the feeling that sustainability was a current issue, but that there was a lack of a practical discussion of the subject, which would meet the needs of the people who worked with the project.
The perception was that the topic was treated too conceptually and therefore many did not take the issue seriously. In the projects, numerous relevant factors were considered in the most diverse stages: ergonomics, cost, market issues, aesthetics, needs of the target audience, etc. When questioned about whether or not it was sustainable, the solution was to indicate that the materials used "could" be recycled, for example.
And in the middle of this discussion, someone brought a public notice that FAPESC was launching to assist scientific events. And then we had the idea: are we going to hold an event to discuss this problem? An event where those who deal with design, whether engineer, architect, designer or any other profession can come and talk about it, show what they are doing, bring and bring information? An event that could serve both the academic and the professional/business public?
Since then, ENSUS – Project Sustainability Meeting has taken place in thirteen editions:
