About the event

T he Critical Perspectives on Accounting Conference brings together accounting professors, doctoral students, and researchers from other disciplines interested in critical accounting research.

The Conference, held every three years, offers a collaborative and welcoming environment. Its goal is to build and consolidate the network of active supporters of critical accounting research. It also seeks to encourage critical reflection on the development of accounting standards and accounting practice in a world facing many challenges. Notably, the Conference aims to generate substantive conversations about how accounting can be improved to build a better and fairer world, with a view to socio-political and environmental transformations.

The 2026 Critical Perspectives in Accounting Conference will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) School of Administration and Accounting (FACC) and at the Brazilian School of Administration (EBAPE) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

“Accounts of Genocide – debating accounting and settler colonial violence through the lens of Palestine”

This panel brings together scholars engaged in critical debates on the role of accounting in contexts of conflict, dispossession, and settler colonialism. Focusing on Palestine, the session will explore how accounting practices and accountability mechanisms intersect with structures of power, violence, and resistance.

The discussion aims to foster critical reflection on the political dimensions of accounting and its implications for justice, visibility, and global responsibility.
