Welcome to the BWSP 2019

The Brazilian Workshop on Semiconductor Physics is a biennial workshop initiated in 1983 with the goal of gathering the Brazilian semiconductor physics community to a series of lectures on the most important and timely topics in the area.

BWSP is the premier national meeting for reporting all aspects of semiconductor physics including electronic, structural, optical, magnetic and transport properties.

The workshop will reflect the state of art in the semiconductor physics and will serve as a forum where scholars, researchers, and specialists can interact to discuss future research directions and technological advancements.

In this edition, the BWSP will be organized by professors from the Physics Department of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).

We will continue to cover a broad range of topics such as low dimensional systems, topological insulators, graphene, two-dimensional systems beyond graphene, wide- and narrow-gap semiconductors,  spin manipulation, organic and biological related semiconductors, among other traditional topics in semiconductor physics. Moreover, we will include tutorials on growth, spin-orbit coupling and two-dimensional materials.

Important information (Aug. 12nd, 2019): the issue on the submission system demanding payment of the registration fee during abstract submission has been solved. The new deadline for FAPESP eligible researchers is August 14th, 2019. Any further problem, please contact us at bwsp19@fisica.ufc.br.

Travel, hotel and venue information information

Travel info

Fortaleza is one of the largest cities in Brazil and easily accessible by air, with daily flights from Europe, US and major brazilian airports.


Venue Info

The workshop will take place at the Centro de Convivência of the Universidade Federal do Ceará. We will provide a bus between Hotel Beira Mar and the University. The bus is indented for all BWSP participants, even those who did not stay Beira Mar Hotel. The bus departs every day around 7:40 am, and returns to the hotel after the scientific program ends. Due to a road construction in the hotel area, the bus will park around the nearest corner at Paula Barros street.
