Since 2013, the Postgraduate Program in Veterinary Sciences (PPVS) has organized the International Symposium in Veterinary Sciences (ISVS), promoting the integration of faculty and students not only from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro but also from institutions across Brazil and abroad. The tenth edition of ISVS was held from December 9 to 11, 2025, with the aim of disseminating research of significant scientific and technological relevance in the field of veterinary sciences, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the State of Rio de Janeiro and strengthening the internationalization of the PPVS.

The theme of this edition, “Applications of Biotechnology in Veterinary Sciences”, reflected the growing demand for innovative biotechnological approaches to address emerging and re-emerging threats to animal and public health. In this context, preventive veterinary medicine played a key role in anticipating and mitigating risks, contributing to disease control, animal welfare, and food safety.

The symposium provided a platform to discuss current technological advances and challenges in the field, encouraging the development of innovative solutions. Through specialized lectures and the presentation of scientific abstracts, the event fostered scientific communication, supported the establishment of research collaborations, and expanded academic networks. In doing so, it consolidated its role as an important space for knowledge exchange and for strengthening the connection between science and society.
