Summary
In this work, the films were deposited using the spin-coating technique, based on the variation of the active layer, which may be the Poly - (3-hexylthiophene) polymer (P3HT) or the P3HT:PCBM blend, and the buffer layer, which may be the PEDOT: PSS blend or the PEDOT: PSS: GO blend, and after deposition, optical and electrical characterizations were performed in order to study the photophysical properties and the interaction between the different deposited layers. The films were deposited on a glass substrate with an Indium tin oxide (ITO) layer. Afterwards, optical characterizations were performed using the Ultraviolet-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (PL), Photoluminescence Excitation Spectroscopy (PLE), and Emission Ellipsometry (EE) measurements, it was possible to observe the polarized light emission by films, as well as the electrical measurement of Cyclic Voltammetry (VC). As a standard deposition method, the rotation speed was set at 3000 RPM for the buffer layer and 2400 RPM for the active layer, thus comparing the variations in optical measurements according to the films so that the thicknesses are similar. Utilizing Raman spectroscopy the synthesis of layers was verified, being able to verify the presence of each material. It was noted that GO has excellent influences on optical measurements and the interaction it presents with PCBM. Both presented its quenching effect as observed in the PL measurement and made the transfer of energy more uniform concerning the film ITO/PEDOT: PSS/P3HT, as seen in the EE measurements. Furthermore, in the VC measurements, it was noted that due to the overlayer structure, the materials' energy bands (HOMO and LUMO) could interact and modify the electronic gap of the samples. However, this work helps the developers understand the electronic interactions that can occur between the polymers, thus optimizing the photovoltaic devices since the GO in the buffer layer influenced the photophysics of the samples.
