Resumo

The Youth Plenaries have been part of the Brazilian Agroecology Congresses (CBA) since the 10th edition, held in 2017 in Brasília, when the Youth and Agroecology Working Group (WG) was established within the Brazilian Agroecology Association (ABA-Agroecology). The WG is composed of young researchers engaged in knowledge production and youth mobilization across Brazil, grounded in the recognition that youth experience is shaped by multiple challenges while also holding strong potential for social transformation and political engagement in organizations and social movements. During the 13th Brazilian Agroecology Congress, held from October 15 to 18, 2025, in Juazeiro, Bahia, the Youth and Agroecology WG led the organization of the 4th consecutive Youth Plenary under the theme “The future is ancestral: mobilizing knowledge and youth in the struggle for agroecology and confronting the climate crisis.” The plenary brought together youth representatives from the Landless Workers’ Movement, the Small Farmers’ Movement, the Brazilian Federation of Agronomy Students, the National Youth Secretariat, the General Coordination of Youth of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming, and the Miri Amazonian Collective, as well as youth collectives from different regions and Brazilian biomes. The session functioned as a space for dialogue, exchange of experiences, and political strengthening among youth, reaffirming agroecology as a future-oriented project and a key strategy for addressing the climate crisis, while fostering articulation between youth organizations, social movements, and public policies targeting rural and urban youth.
