Resumo

An important aspect of social innovation lies in offering new solutions to address challenges and needs, especially those of vulnerable groups. The objective of this research was to analyze the state of the art of scientific production focused on social innovation and family farming, with an emphasis on local development. This literature review is based on a bibliometric analysis of scientific production on social innovation in family farming from 2020 to 2025. PRISMA was used to organize the study, which addressed publications in the Web of Science database, selecting 27 articles with the support of Methodi ordinatio. In the literature, the authors highlight the importance of considering various typifications of social innovation. Alternative food systems, agency and power in the construction of local agri-food alternatives, their movements and organizations, integrating diverse social actors in the promotion of local development, are highlighted. The formation of local networks and new market arrangements stand out. Considering social innovations and collective actions, the predominance of organizational, social, and institutional actors was observed, evidencing the practice of social innovation as a result of the collaborative work of members of civil society, companies, and state agents. The importance of a research agenda to understand the impacts of social innovations on family farming is highlighted. It is also extremelly relevant to consider value creation in research projects on social innovation for family farming.
