Resumo

The concept of Food Sovereignty continues to be a counter-hegemonic political proposal, antagonistic to the dominant agri-food system of the corporate regime, which affects multiple interests and approaches to social and environmental justice, and especially small and medium-sized producers. It remains essential to understand the role of small and medium-sized producer organizations that are moving towards agroecology and food sovereignty in their on-farm practices and political proposals. This paper addresses the trends of re-peasantization within producer organizations of the Spanish food sovereignty movement. Through content analysis of their social media profiles, in-depth interviews, ethnography, and focus groups, information has been gathered from agricultural unions belonging to La Vía Campesina, national producer platforms, and autonomous collectives within the agroecological movement. These diverse organizations encompass a broad spectrum of productive and ideological re-peasantization practices, addressing the management of their complex internal logics of economic and political viability. There is a clear need to more effectively occupy the agrarian and rural political arena from positions firmly rooted in agroecology and food sovereignty, and led by the small and medium-sized producer organizations themselves. The "peasant" movement in Spain is currently in the process of finding its internal structure, with the support of the "peasant" organizations within the Spanish food sovereignty movement.
