Resumo

This study challenges the conventional reliance on formal "cooperatives" as the exclusive vehicle for sustainable rural development. By examining Taiwan’s Islandtime CO., LTD.—a legally registered company that functions as a hub for the solidarity economy—the paper employs J.K. Gibson-Graham’s "Diverse Economies" and Michel Callon’s "Performativity" to analyze how true cooperation is enacted. The research highlights the "One-Ping Landowner" project, a unique socio-technical device that allows urban consumers to subscribe to micro-units of land stewardship. The authors argue that this project is a "socio-technical agencement" that performs cooperation through three mechanisms: de-commodifying property by prioritizing ecological stewardship over financial assets; using calculative reciprocity to internalize invisible labor in pricing; and resubjectivizing consumers into active, risk-sharing stakeholders. Ultimately, the paper demonstrates that sustainable rural futures depend less on rigid legal structures and more on flexible socio-technical configurations. This case offers valuable insights for the Global South, suggesting that solidarity can be effectively "hacked" and performed within capitalist organizational forms to reclaim rural autonomy.
