Resumo

Family farming procurement under the Brazilian National School Feeding Program (PNAE) plays a strategic role in promoting local development and valuing traditional peoples and communities. However, the effective participation of these groups still faces operational and institutional challenges. This study aims to comparatively analyze the implementation of family farming procurement within the PNAE in the municipalities of Tavares and São José do Norte (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), with a focus on the inclusion of traditional peoples and communities. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires applied to municipal managers, responsible technical nutritionists, and family farmers, in addition to documentary analysis of public calls and procurement notices. The study seeks to identify barriers and facilitating factors in program implementation, highlighting aspects such as logistics, procurement criteria, cultural appropriateness of foods, and intersectoral coordination. The findings are expected to contribute to the strengthening of public policies aimed at food sovereignty and the valorization of traditional productive practices in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
