Resumo
The process of accumulation and enclosure over centuries by the plantation system produced various social inequalities and severely harmed natural elements through deforestation and air and water pollution, making the reproduction of various life forms impossible. On the other hand, there are plot organizations that maintain other value structures (Wynter, 1971). One of these possibilities is called the commons (Federici, 2021), a proposition for social organization that can be evidenced in various forms, disseminated as community systems of production and reproduction of life. Its main characteristic is the concrete socialization of natural and produced resources. In this sense, the commons is one example of a plot in contrast to the plantation system. This article aims to analyze, as a case study, the Periferia Feminista movement as an example of a plot and organization of the commons, located in the southern region of the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. This movement originated from a community garden founded by the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the space functions as a point of strengthening and gathering, where qualification and training workshops also take place, mainly for women in the region. The methodology involved research on social networks and virtual pages of the movement, as well as an interview with one of the main leaders in order to understand the process of constitution as a community garden and the modifications that resulted in what is now known as the Periferia Feminista collective. The analysis is guided by an interpretative approach, where reality must be understood from the intrinsic link between objectivity and subjectivity (Della Porta and Keating, 2008), that is, the actors-members can modify their structure of objective reality through their actions. Critical discourse analysis, according to its precursor Michel Pêcheux (1997), was used to analyze the collected data.
