Summary
Façade frames with integrated blinds are primarily designed to provide controlled shading, but they also stand out for their ability to significantly improve sound insulation. This study presents the results of acoustic tests conducted on 20 façade frames with integrated blinds, tested both with the blind’s slat activated and retracted. The objective was to determine the contribution of the blind to enhancing sound insulation. The findings showed that using the blind can result in increases in sound insulation ranging from 3 to 9 dB, depending on the degree of noise leakage when the blind is retracted. In frames with higher leakage under these conditions, the presence of the blind made the most significant difference in noise reduction. Therefore, it is concluded that adopting integrated blinds can be an effective solution for improving the acoustic performance of façades, especially in urban areas with elevated noise levels.
