Summary
Implemented in September 2021, São Paulo's construction noise regulation (Decreto de Ruído de Obras da cidade de São Paulo nº 60.581) aimed to regulate construction noise, but three years later, compliance remains inconsistent. This study evaluates its adoption, challenges in enforcement, and the role of continuous noise monitoring. Intelligent noise monitoring solutions, integrating sensors, data analytics and artificial intelligence, can support proactive management, minimizing exceedance of noise limits, and improving community relations. The study provides insights for policymakers, construction companies, and urban planners, emphasizing the need for active data collection and assessment to enhance regulatory effectiveness and sustainable urban development.
