Summary
In this study, a virtual development process based on collaboration with partner companies to respond to increasing development uncertainty and stakeholder requirements was proposed and verified. Close cooperation with partner companies is essential to quickly resolve increasing uncertainty. For the efficiency of virtual development, virtual models submitted by partner companies are required. The virtual process of submitting tire models should be established in order to accurately predict and make decisions on the performance of total vehicles. The digital twin model developed based on the collaboration of the tire suppliers enables set-based design, and accordingly, the maturity of the vehicle's performance development has increased significantly. As an application case of this study, an example of the road noise improvement of a vehicle using tire models provided by a supplier is introduced. The tire supplier provided tire models considering various performances. Through several improvements, a tire model that satisfies road noise and related performance was developed. Finally, a real tire corresponding to the virtual model was manufactured to verify performance.
