Apresentação
The 1st Brazilian Meeting on Ceramic Additive Manufacturing (CeramicAM Brasil) was held from 19-20 September 2024 in São Carlos, SP, Brazil.
The event was organized and hosted by the São Carlos School of Engineering of the University of São Paulo (USP) in collaboration with the Brazilian Ceramic Association (ABCeram), the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), and the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP) with the support from the Fundação de Apoio a Física e a Química (FAFQ). The Organizing Committee was composed of Dr. Mateus Mota Morais (USP), Prof. Dr. Ítalo Leite de Camargo (IFSP), Prof. Dra. Ana Paula da Luz (UFSCar), and Prof. Dr. Carlos Alberto Fortulan (USP).
The event was an outstanding success, exceeding all expectations. It was characterized by the high quality of the scientific presentations and invited talks, the friendly environment for networking and new collaborations, and the integration of students, researchers, and industry professionals. Thus, CeramicAM will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on the field of ceramic additive manufacturing in Brazil.
The success of the event was made possible by the generous support of the funding agencies and sponsors. CeramicAM was funded by the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), Journal of the European Ceramic Society Trust (JECS Trust), and Agência de Inovação e Transferência de Tecnologia do Instituto Federal de São Paulo (Inova-IFSP). In addition, there were three gold sponsors (3D Ceram Sinto, Duraprinter3D, and Lithoz), one silver sponsor (Engecer), and two bronze sponsors (AMS and Farcco Tecnologia) whose financial support was vital for organizing an event of such high-quality at a very accessible cost for students.
The meeting hosted 128 participants from 9 countries, 7 Brazilian states, and 45 institutions (including companies, universities, and technical institutes). Regarding participant formation, there were 24 students in undergraduate or technical courses, 42 post-graduate students, 36 professors or researchers, and 26 professionals.
There were 35 abstracts presented as posters; among them, 18 were selected to be orally presented as a 3-minute pitch. The young researcher Natalia Fijol won the "JECS Trust Best Oral Presentation" Award for her pitch CO2-Laser Based 3D Printing Using Glass Filaments. and the undergraduate student Enzo Todeschini won the "ABCeram Best Poster" Award for his work Empirical Characterization of Direct Ink Writing Using Dimensionless Numbers and Taguchi's DOE.
There were also invited talks from renowned experts: Prof. Paolo Colombo (University of Padova, Italy), Arnaud Roux (3D Ceram, France), Prof. Neri Volpato (UTFPR, Brazil), Dr. Jamil Duailibi (Duracer, Brazil), Dr. Daniel Bomze (Lithoz, Austria), and Prof. Henry A. Colorado (University of Antioquia, Colombia). There was also a round table about the challenges and opportunities of Ceramic 3D Printing in the Industry with guests from companies acting in Brazil (Dr. Jamil Duailibi, Dra. Tatiana Falvo Almeida, Fábio Sant'Ana and Matheus de Cervantes Baraniuk).
The conference concluded with a practical workshop at the laboratories of the Federal University of São Carlos with the topics of CAD and Design for Additive Manufacturing (Prof. Eduardo Henrique Backes), Direct Ink Writting (Prof. Dr. Ítalo Leite de Camargo and MSc. Thiago Wisley Barbosa de Farias), and Vat-photopolymerization (Prof. Dra. Ana Paula da Luz).
