Resumo
The soybean (Glycine max L.) is one of the main brazilian commodities. This crop has several pests capable of causing considerable economic damage, the main one is the stink bug complex, that causes losses of productivity and seed quality. The antixenose resistance is an important mechanism of a plant to keep away the predator pests. The goal of this study was to characterize in soybean the antixenose resistance to brown stink bug. Thirteen genotypes were used in the experiment: IAC 100, BRS 391, BRS 543 RR, BRS 1003 IPRO, LQ 8, RIL 227, RIL 186, RIL 109, CD 215, AS 3730, RIL 249, RIL 241 and RIL 7. Three pods of each genotype at R6 stage were put equidistant between them in arenas (60 cm diameter x 10 cm high), with filter paper in the ground and covered with a glass. Eighteen stink bug 1:1 (male:female), previously fasted for 24 hours, were released in the center of the arena. Number of probes, feeding time and number of insects in each genotype in 15, 30, 45, 60, 120 and 180 minutes were evaluated. The attraction index was estimated by AI = (2G)/(G+S), where G is the number of insects in the current genotype and S is the number of insects in the susceptible reference genotype (CD 215). No statistic difference was observed in the feeding time and in the number of insects in each time during the experiment. However, significant difference was observed in the number of insects between genotypes. IAC 100, BRS391, AS 3730 and RIL 241 had the least number of insects, on the other hand, BRS 543 RR, RIL 109, RIL 249 and LQ 8 had the highest value. The number of probes had significant differences RIL 7 had the highest value, while IAC 100 had the least. The attractive index differed between the genotypes, RIL 7, RIL 109, BRS 543, RIL 227, RIL 249, LQ 8, RIL 186 and RIL 241 were considered attractive, while BRS 1003 IPRO neutral, and AS 3730, BRS 391 and IAC 100 resistant. A high positive correlation between the number of probes and the number of insects was observed (0,98) and a negative correlation was perceived in the number of probes and number of stink bugs with the attractive index (-0,61 and -0,49 respectively). The comprehension and verification of the antixenose resistance in soybean genotypes could help breeding programs to develop more resistant cultivars to the stink bug complex in Brazil and in the world. Furthermore, the use of resistant genotypes as a complementary tool for the pest integrated management could benefit the environment reducing the pesticide use.
