The Asociación de Economía de la Educación (AEDE) is one of the most traditional entities in the area, with more than 30 editions of its annual congress in Europe. In 2025, it inaugurated its Pan American branch in Costa Rica. The second edition arrives in Brazil.
From November 9 to 11, 2026, the Universidade Federal Fluminense will host the 2nd Pan American Meeting of AEDE in Niterói — a complementary event to the association''''s 34th International Congress, held in Logroño, Spain, in July of the same year. With 150 participants expected from all over the Americas, Europe and the United States, the Meeting consolidates itself as the main continental forum dedicated to the Economics of Education.
The event was designed to articulate different forms of knowledge production and use. The first day is entirely dedicated to a mini-course on the evaluation of public policies in education — an intensive training aimed at researchers and technicians. The second and third days combine keynote lectures, public policy-focused roundtables, and academic paper presentation sessions, followed by a closing session.
The Meeting is not just an academic congress. Following the model of the pioneering edition in Costa Rica, it seeks the active participation of researchers, policymakers and managers from institutions such as ECLAC (United Nation''''s Economic Comission for Latin America and the Caribbean), the Brazilian Ministry of Education and state and municipal education departments. The goal is to create a space where rigorous evidence meets decision-makers — and where policymakers find the most advanced methodologies available.
