The International Symposium on Critical Studies of Feminisms, Gender, Consumption and Capitalism is an event organized by the FEGECCAP, CNPq Research Group, coordinated by Profa. Dr. Soraya Barreto Januário (PPGCOM/UFPE). The event aims to bring together researchers, students and other interested parties to discuss feminist and gender studies themes.
In its third edition, the symposium will have as its theme: "Rethinking hegemony: feminist epistemologies and masculinities". The event, to be held on July 29, 30 and 31, 2025, will be virtual and receives free registrations for the presentation of expanded abstracts and participation as a listener for lecture, work sessions and panels.
The realization is by FEGECCAP - Center for Critical Studies of Feminisms, Gender, Consumption and Capitalism, in partnership with the Graduate Program in Communication at UFPE.
Call for Papers
We invite the academic community to submit Expanded Abstracts to be presented orally, in Portuguese, Spanish or English, in the following modality: virtual. The event aims to debate gender and masculinities issues from feminist, queer, communication, consumption and gender studies. We thus seek completed works, works in progress or initial proposals that relate to the thematic axes below:
Communication, consumption and media representations of masculinities
Labor, neoliberalism, and masculinities
Health, care and masculinities
Violence and masculinities
Plural masculinities, transmasculinities, and LGBTQIAPN+ population
Masculinities and sports cultures
Aesthetics, performance, and masculinities
Religion, beliefs, spiritualities, and masculinities
Childhoods, youths and masculinities
Education, culture, and masculinities
Who can submit? Undergraduate Students; Graduate Students; Professors and Researchers; Activists and Social Movements.
Co-authored papers will be received with a maximum of two co-authors.
Submission rules: Expanded summary, within the event template: Template Download; Download versions in Spanish and English. References do not count in the page limit and must follow ABNT standards.
*We accept papers in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The other activities of the event will be held exclusively in Portuguese and/or English.
Expanded abstracts will be published later in the proceedings of the event.
