The Graduate Programs in Economics at the State University of Maringá and the State University of Londrina, in collaboration with the Department of Business and Economics at Ibmec-DF, are pleased to present this proposal for the Second Workshop on Latin American Studies, to be held at the State University of Maringá on November 27–28, 2025.
The event will take place in a hybrid format, with both in-person sessions and remote participation, aiming to foster a broad debate from diverse perspectives. The central theme focuses on the Latin American economy, with particular attention to current fiscal debates, including the recent U.S. tariff hike and pressing climate challenges, which are expected to be central topics at COP30.
These dynamics have significantly reshaped the political and economic landscape across the region, underscoring the urgent need for academic inquiry into their implications. In this context, the organization of an international event to address these issues becomes not only relevant but essential.
The workshop will span two days of intensive activities, featuring panel discussions and the presentation of academic papers.
