The 1st International Workshop in Cryptococcus and Cryptococcosis is being held jointly with the Graduate Program in Biosciences and Biotechnology Applied to Pharmacy (UNESP), and in Parasitic and Infectious Diseases, Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul UFMS).
This symposium is an opportunity to strengthen ties between the scientific community of Brazil and other countries from different aspects of a significant disease, cryptococcosis, that has high morbidity and mortality. The WHO AG FPPL pointed this out as a high priority. The activity will be focused on discussing topics related to the disease, such as the need to study different models, virulence factors, clinical trials to reduce morbidity and mortality, data on antifungal susceptibility combined with molecular typing, comparison of antifungal resistance rates for different genotypes, risk factors and clinical outcomes, different diagnosis tools, annual incidence, complications, sequelae as well as global surveillance data, development, and optimization of current and new treatment options.
The workshop will involve influential national and international researchers with different specialties.
We expect to promote productive discussions and new collaborations and create a supportive, dynamic virtual environment in this field for all scientific backgrounds, including undergraduates and graduate students, postdoctoral and early career, and senior investigators worldwide.
In this sense, the 1st International Workshop is innovative because of the programmatic content, translating into a unique opportunity to interact and seek collaborations with renowned national and foreign researchers in this area.
