12th Ibero-American Museum Meeting

From September 14 to 16, 2026, the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, will host the 12th Ibero-American Museum Meeting, an international space for reflection, exchange, and cooperation for the museum sector in the region, under the theme “Shared Heritage, Common Futures.”

Aimed at public managers, museum and heritage professionals, researchers, cultural agents, and individuals interested in the museum field, the Meeting seeks to strengthen a collective perspective that connects heritage, present, and future, recognizing its social, diverse, and shared dimension.

The programme will take place in person, with partial online streaming, and will include conferences, panel discussions, presentation of papers and experiences, workshops, exploratory visits, and collaborative working spaces. These activities will be structured around three thematic axes:

  • Diversity and social appropriation of heritage. People and communities at the centre
  • Narrate, interpret, co-create. Heritage as a field of debate
  • Biocultural territories and a culture of peace. Pathways towards shared futures

The 12th Meeting is an initiative of the Ibermuseos Programme and the Dirección General de Museos of the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

Places are limited. Register and be part of this space for exchange, learning, and collaboration for museums in Ibero-America.

Call for Applications

CALL FOR GRANTS TO INTEGRATE THE PROGRAMMING

What do you need to prepare to participate?

Please read carefully the CALL REGULATIONS for the grant, available here.

In addition to personal and institutional information, as well as the identification of the main thematic axis and type of proposal, you will be asked to provide:

  • A brief biography and information on previous experience with similar proposals
  • The title and description of your proposal (objectives, approach and content)
  • For workshops: methodology, materials, number of participants and expected outcomes
  • For lectures or experience presentations: main results and key learnings
  • A short video (max. 1 minute) presenting your proposal

Please note:  proposals will be accepted in Spanish and Portuguese.
